Loose Ends is a British soul and R&B band formed in London in 1980. The group is known for their sophisticated melodies and significant influence on the contemporary R&B genre of the 1980s. Initially formed under the name « Loose End, » the group quickly changed their name to « Loose Ends » after the addition of new members and signing with Virgin Records.
Their sound is characterized by a unique blend of British soul with elements of funk and pop. Their first major success came with the single « Hangin’ on a String (Contemplating) » in 1985, which became the first track by a British black music group to top the U.S. Billboard R&B chart. Their album « So Where Are You? » (1985) established them as major figures in British R&B, with hits such as « Magic Touch » and « Gonna Make You Mine. »
