Released as a single from the Insomnia compilation, Keith Murray drops his hardcore rhymes over a funky track from Erick Sermon, who said the following about the creation of the song:
“This goes out to my niggas on lockdown…” That’s one of my favorite records, and dopest videos, where there’s three of him in the kitchen eating cereal. That video was incredible!
That record was just the “Impeach The President” drums. The sample I had to get replayed because Bootsy Collins didn’t want to clear the record for some reason. I had to go through a whole big thing. We wanted that record so bad. Jimmy Iovine wanted the record so bad.
They had the ‘Hit or Miss’ back on 98.7 Kiss, and he made it [as a ‘hit’] three days. Even though he didn’t make it the whole week, it was one of those records people liked.
